Arranged Marriage
Guy is divorced with a kid. Family says no, I think he is genuine
29F. Met a guy, divorced, has a 4 yr old with shared custody. He was upfront about all of it from day one, which I respect a lot.
He is mature, stable, kind, and honestly the best conversation I have had in this whole process.
My family hears divorced plus kid and shuts down instantly. I think he is genuine and I am not scared of the kid. Am I being naive or do these marriages work? Need real experiences.

Think hard about the ex being in the picture via the child forever. If you are ok with that, this is a strong match.
Families say no on reflex to divorced plus kid. Give them time and let them meet HIM. People soften when it is a real person.
Not naive. Naive is marrying a flashy liar. You found a stable honest man. Just go in clear eyed about the kid and co parent.
He told you everything on day one. That honesty is rarer than a clean profile. Dont let family fear override what you see.
Best conversation in the whole process plus full honesty. That is not something to throw away for the word divorced.
The real question is the kid, not the divorce. If you are ready for that role and he parents well, the rest is just noise.
My cousin married a divorced dad. Happiest marriage in our family. The kid adores her. These marriages absolutely work.
Meet the kid only when things are serious, but a man who co parents responsibly is showing you exactly who he is. Green flag.
Trust your read of him over your relatives reflex. You have met him, they have only met the label. Big difference.
As a guy, upfront about a divorce and a kid from day one tells you he is mature and not a liar. That is huge, honestly.
